Grand County BEDA- Working to Retain and Increase Jobs in Grand County.
This recession has hit so many of the local businesses throughout Grand County that it can seem like a daunting task to try to improve the business climate. For the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Grand County Business Economic Development Association (BEDA), economic development in 2009 and 2010 means helping retain businesses through these tough times. Through education, or as we like to say technical assistance, we have offered classes and seminars in marketing, business plans and social networking just to name a few. Networking sessions like the Fall and Spring events help bring business owners together to build partnerships.
In 2010 a new effort is underway to create or retain jobs through Sustainable Energy practices. Through the visionary work of Becky McBride and Liz McIntyre, Grand and Jackson Counties were awarded a grant from the Governor’s Energy Office for a coordinator who will oversee education, research and funding for programs in our community. Here for full story.

A Moment With Maria
Not enough snow for your liking? Don't let it get you down. There is still plenty of things to do up here. May it be taking a nice groomed run, a great trail ski, trip on a snowmobile, stretch at yoga, play at the pool or paint your own pottery. The activities are endless. Don't forget to be an ambassador of the community even if its not an epic powder year. Life is good at 9,000 feet. So remember to spread the feeling of optimism to your neighbor or guest and smile.
