Let's Celebrate!
Congratulations to The Grand BYOB Project for coming in second place in the Colorado Association of Ski Towns Reusable Bag Challenge! Out of 31 competing towns, Basalt came in first place with an average of 48 bags eliminated per person, while Winter Park-Fraser-Granby were right behind with an average of 45 bags per person.
Second place receives $1,000 courtesy of Safeway Stores. The money is being donated to a local community organization or cause that is furthering recycling and green initiatives. Collectively, the Challenge helped to eliminate over 5 million plastic bags! But now that the Challenge is over, please remember to still keep shopping with your reusable bags!!
A HUGE thanks goes out to The Grand BYOB Project committee for all their hard work on this initiative: Cat Petersen, Martha Hut, Michele-Murray Hedlund, Joyce Burford, Tim Hodsdon, Liz McIntyre, Jean Wolter, Chiara Subhas and our bag monster extraordinaire, Eric Van Herwaaden. And to our sponsors: Rendezvous Colorado, Mountain Parks Electric, Winter Park Resort, Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber, McConnell Printing and O2 Creative.
