News from the Frontline by Kristyna Nedele

Summer is right around the corner as the Visitor Center, Chamber, and the Towns of Winter Park and Fraser are beginning preparation for the summer ahead. We had a great closing weekend, and now enjoying the slow time before summer crowds arrive.

We are still continuing distribution of Visitor Guides through the slow season to people across the country and the globe.  If you get any calls from prospective visitors, you can direct them to the Chamber’s website, www.playwinterpark.com, to download their own free copy of the 2009 Visitor Guide or for summer event schedules.

DID YOU KNOW...in 2008, 37,000 Visitor Guides were sent our worldwide through bulk mailing, and over 80,000 people came through the Visitor Center?  Make sure you have plenty of brochues in the visitor center so they'll walk out the door with these many guests.

Preparing for the "Speed Networking" Event May 20
Maximize Your Networking Skill With Your Own 30-Second Commercial!
(See bottom of newsletter for event details.)

The opportunity to network happens to most business owners all of the time! But many of us don’t know how to maximize that opportunity when someone asks, “What business are you in?”  Be ready to answer with your own personal 30-second commercial.

Since people form impressions of others within the first 20 to 30 seconds, it is crucial that you prepare your 30-second commercial so that it will be effective for you and your business. The attached worksheet will help you plan your 30-second commercial. Read it aloud and time yourself. Practice your 30-second commercial until you can say it without referring to your worksheet. Your talk will gain power if you stand. Practice on two or three people, making solid eye contact as you speak.

Five Easy Steps to the Perfect 30-Second Commercial
Your 30-second commercial should include the following:
    1.Your name and business name.
    2.Your business location.
3.The type of business you are in.
4.The cost of products or services.
5.The type of people or businesses that are good prospects for you. Include places, people, key phrases and situations that produce leads, such as: Businesses moving to a new location; unhappy with present service; unaware of information available; interest in travel, self improvement, etc.

Click Here for the 30-Second Commercial worksheet, helpful hints & an example of  a  "30- second commercial".
