The groups include Marketing Council, Special Events Committee, Winter Park Music Inc., Sales Council and Membership Committee. The Chamber Board has met to give the committees general direction for 2009. An annual report will be produced for distribution at the end of the year. In order to serve the community well we are requesting your input before work plans are set for 2009. We need to know what helps your business and what you feel is not productive. Please contact a board or staff member listed in this newsletter and help us serve you better. My contact information is: cross@playwinterpark.com or 726-4221 ext. 201.

2009 Visitor Guide Update
We are heading into production of our 2009 Visitor Guide and we need your help to make this guide as successful as ever! If you'd like to increase your exposure and buy an ad in the guide, the deadline has passed, but there is still space! CLICK HERE to open our reservation and spec form.
As a member, you still receive a free listing in the business directory of the visitor guide, but we are making some modifications for 2009. Due to the increasing numbers of new members, the rising cost of paper, and keeping the size of the guide down to an economical size, we will be eliminating the description fields. Your listing will still list your business name, phone number(s), email and web site. And, we will be creating more descriptive categories in lieu of eliminating your descriptions.
The 2009 Business Listing sheets were mailed out on Monday, September 8, so please look for them. They are due back on September 22, so please help us to make your information accurate. You can also download a listing sheet by CLICKING HERE.

Update From Sales Cindy Harder & Sara Sable
Sales council hosted 30 college Lifestylz group representatives in preparation for their January visit. Lifestylz will be bringing over 800 college students to Winter Park & The Fraser Valley January 5-10, ’09. We look forward to working with Winter Park Resort to co-host this group.
The Winter Park-Fraser Valley area was chosen as the host site for the 10th Annual National Ski Council Federation Recreational Ski Councils Meeting on August 21-24. Sales council was pleased to be able to co-host the group with Winter Park Resort. Twenty-six councils representing 330,000 recreational skiers and racers throughout the U.S. were present at the meeting. Nineteen ski industry representatives from resorts, travel agencies and news media also attended. Winter Park Resort was a major host for the event, providing accommodations and happy hours. Sales council was on-hand with a ‘mini-chamber’ daily to answer questions for the group, and hosting the final dinner at Sunspot. Cooper Creek Square hosted a Welcome Reception the first night, bringing attention to a major retail center of the community.
We have received a multitude of thank-you letters from council members expressing that Winter Park’s hospitality was “by far the best we’ve experienced in the 10 years (they’ve) been involved with the NSCF."
Thank you to the community for your support and participation in FAMs. It helps to grow future business for us all.

Summer Season Wrap-Up by Special Events Operations Manager, T Davis To summarize the summer events will be impossible. The festivals were such a big success I don’t know where to start! We ran out of 500 bib numbers for our Run for Independence due to the overwhelming participants which was followed by thousands of guests for our Lance Gutersohn 4th of July Celebration! Awesome fireworks! Did you run/walk in the Habitat Hobble this year? If you missed out on all the music in the park in Fraser you would have missed Frank Expressions "Picnic with Pizzaz" prize and free massages by Arapaho Chiropractic, not to mention great music!
The circus came to town and sold out every performance at Winter Park Resort for the new Italian Festival. We also found out just how many people we can fit at Hideaway Park with the many, many, many ticket sales for the Winter Park Jazz Festival. And with the great and talented musical artists for High-Note Thursdays we kept that park full and alive! Did you get to see one of the homes during the ever popular Parade of Homes? How about the live raptors or hear the Native American stories for Fraser River Days? The skate park events were always packed with 75-100 kids and young adults showing off and competing in three events this summer. The high school students also proved they could sing, and very well I might add, during the last event for the High Altitude Battle of the Bands & Boards. Great art came out of the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Arts Week and the Alpine ArtAffair.
We had a little of everything this summer. We were honored to have the Salute to American Veterans Rally come back to town with the traveling Vietnam Wall in Fraser. Too bad it snowed that weekend which forced the Hawg Festival to be cancelled, but a beautiful baby girl was born in McDonalds. A BIG THANK YOU once again to all the summer event, volunteers and local support including the special events team and special events committee. We look forward to working with everyone again and be sure to watch for 2009 Special Event info coming this fall. Plan now to participate in 2009!
