Grand Give Give Big or Go Home
The Winter Park–Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Grand Foundation announced their inaugural Grand Give. Inspired by Oprah’s Big Give and with a desire to help families and employees struggling in Grand County, the Chamber and the Grand Foundation are asking their members to join in the Grand Give.
The Chamber asked the Mountain Family Center (MFC) to be the beneficiary of this project. The MFC knows what kinds of assistance and services families in Grand County need. Chamber members will have many choices for giving big and can choose to contribute in a way that may have special meaning to them.
The Chamber encourages its members to start with a contribution from their businesses and build on that by asking their many contacts, in and out of Grand County, to help reach their goals and give big. Goods, services and cash can all be donated. Individuals are also welcome to participate in the Grand Give as well.
Click Here for more information or visit www.playwinterpark.com/events on how to get involved. (All cash donations will go to the MFC and not to the Chamber.) ____________________________________

Preparing for the "Speed Networking" Event May 22 Maximize Your Networking Skill With Your Own 30-Second Commercial! See bottom of newsletter for event details. The opportunity to network happens to most business owners all of the time! But many of us don’t know how to maximize that opportunity when someone asks, “What business are you in?” Be ready to answer with your own personal 30-second commercial.
Since people form impressions of others within the first 20 to 30 seconds, it is crucial that you prepare your 30-second commercial so that it will be effective for you and your business. The attached worksheet will help you plan your 30-second commercial. Read it aloud and time yourself. Practice your 30-second commercial until you can say it without referring to your worksheet. Your talk will gain power if you stand. Practice on two or three people, making solid eye contact as you speak.
Five Easy Steps to the Perfect 30-Second Commercial Your 30-second commercial should include the following: 1.Your name and business name. 2.Your business location. 3.The type of business you are in. 4.The cost of products or services. 5.The type of people or businesses that are good prospects for you. Include places, people, key phrases and situations that produce leads, such as: Businesses moving to a new location; unhappy with present service; unaware of information available; interest in travel, self improvement, etc.
Click Here for the 30-Second Commercial worksheet, helpful hints & an example of a "30- second commercial". __________________________________
Member Spotlight: Bear Paw Inn 10% Discount for all Chamber Members
Nestled on a ridge between Winter Park and Granby, in Winter Park Highlands, the Bear Paw Inn is one of Colorado's highest and best small getaways.
Recently featured in "The Best of Colorado" by John Fielder, they have a 360 degree view of the Winter Park Ski Resort, the Fraser Valley, Rky. Mtn. Nat'l Park and the rugged Continental Divide. This bed and breakfast truly seems to 'sit on top of the world.' The hand-peeled Swedish-cope log home was built in the late 1980's by a gentleman from Alaska.
Filled with family treasures, antiques, western memorabilia and, of course, bears, innkeepers Sue and Rick Callahan have owned the Bear Paw since 1995, having moved from Denver. Rick is a tax attorney and a former basketball coach and Sue retired from Continental Airlines to become an innkeeper full time.
COOL TRIVIA: Did you know Rick was Chauncey Billups (Detroit Pistons star) basketball coach growing up? (Click Here -then click on 'Who Made You' Chauncey Billups).
Over the years they've had visitors from all over the world. . . and many return to enjoy a three-course breakfast, al fresco, in the summertime, overlooking Rky. Mtn. Nat'l Park.
As always, the Callahans, Chamber members since 1995, offer locals a 10% discount for all Chamber members that cannot fit their family in their home when they visit. Contact the Bear Paw Inn at 970.887.1351 or go to: www.bearpaw-winterpark.com. ________________________________________
