"I Spy 1973"

"I Spy 1973" is a guessing game of "Who's Who" in 1973. All pictures are of long-time locals currently living in the Fraser Valley who are, or have been, active in our Chamber and community. The first person to guess at least 9 out of 12 pictures correctly in the 2008 newsletters, will win $35.00 at the end of the year. Who are the two people in the photo for April 1973?

Hideaway Park – Creating a Vital Downtown Attraction
If you haven’t noticed, there are big changes happening in Hideaway Park. The Winter Park Town Council is investing a generous amount of funds into the improvements in the park. The Grand County Blues Society and the Chamber will be using the venue to host great events all summer.
Blues From the Top, the first event in the park, will kick off a series of music events including Jazz Festival and the Thursday Night High Note Series. Fraser River Days, Grand County Arts Week and the Grand County Parade of Homes will be hosted from the park and extend throughout the valley into Fraser. The Salute to American Veterans Rally will use the park to honor the brave soldiers who have sacrificed for our freedom.
A new entry, climbing walls and fire pits will improve the everyday amenities in the park all year round. Keep an eye on the ever-changing look of Hideaway Park. It will be an asset for the entire community.
Speaking of Town Parks… We say Good Luck to Michael Stovall!
Michael Stovall has moved on to work with the Town of Winter Park as the new Parks and Open Space Supervisor. Michael has served the community well during his time with the Chamber. We will be working with him on a regular basis but still miss him all the same.

Arapaho Chiropractic Center in Fraser has re-opened! New Owners Drs. Craig Kozak and Susan Ha (husband-wife team)
Dr. Kozak was born and raised in the Chicago area but after a ski trip to Winter Park in the early 1990s, he couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Finally, after finishing a kinesiology undergraduate program, the chiropractic program at National University of Health Sciences, and a 3-year residency in orthopedics and rehabilitation near Los Angeles, he made it back to Colorado. SUMMER GIVEAWAY PACKAGES: Radio, Web & More We Need Your Help! by Joyce Burford
Every year, the Chamber asks our member businesses to partner with us in our summer giveaways. We collect offers from our members and then put them together to create giveaway packages to create awareness of our community as well as the participating member businesses. Word-of-mouth is one of the strongest marketing tools there is, and the guests who win the giveaways and have a great time when they visit us are going to be sure and tell their friends!
I am looking for partners who will work with me throughout our marketing campaign this summer to provide offers that I can put into giveaway packages. Radio listeners, web site visitors, and people who read our various print ads will be given the chance to register to win a free getaway to Winter Park & The Fraser Valley. In exchange for your generosity, we will publish your name, logo and web link in all our promotional materials where possible that is associated with each campaign.
In order for these packages to be successful, I will need lodging, activities and meal(s) for two people. Please CLICK HERE to download a form in .pdf format that you can fill out and fax or mail back to the Chamber. The success of these promotions will depend on the number of getaways we can put together, so the more members who participate and sign-up the better! Please feel free to call me if you have any questions at 726-4221, ext. 3 or send email to jburford@playwinterpark.com. Thank you very much for your support!

June 19: Chamber "Grand Give" Appreciation Party BBQ, live music & good times!
“Sneak-a-Peek” at the new Hideaway Park & Rendezvous Moose on the Chamber corner & celebrate the "Grand Give".
What is the Member Appreciation "GRAND GIVE"? How do you show your members your appreciation for their membership? This year, the WPFVCC is challenging its members to give back. They have chosen the Mountain Family Center as the recipient of the "Grand Give".
The Mountain Family Center will bring to the chamber a "wish list" of items it needs to service its clients in Grand County. The Chamber is taking out a one page ad in the Sky-Hi Newspaper calling to action its members to give big.
If you are not aware of Oprah's "Big Give" which airs on Sunday nights on ABC, Oprah has called to action 10 contestants to give big around the country. Each week the contestants are given new challenges to help others in need. The contestants are challenged to raise money by asking neighboring businesses to match donations, donate merchandise, volunteer time or give whatever they can.
The WPFVCC is bringing this spirit of giving to Grand County, hence the "Grand Give". We want you all to take the next 6 weeks to find ways to give big, and bring all that you have collected to our Annual Membership Appreciation Party at the Winter Park Visitors Center on June 19. We will be presenting all that you have donated to the Mountain Family Center, and we will be giving extra prize packages to the top 3 givers!
Will you rise to the occasion? Contact Danielle Longano for more details at dlongano@playwinterpark.com.
