Established in 1973

Read your newsletter for future 35th Anniversary themed contests or events throughout the year! Including "I Spy 1973." "I Spy 1973" is a guessing game of "Who's Who" in 1973. The first person to guess at least 9 out of 12 pictures correctly in the 2008 newsletters, will win $35.00 at the end of the year.

2008 Caucuses - February 5, 7:00 PM
It is time to get involved in the 2008 election. The first step is to attend your caucus! Please find the information links below to get you on the road to being involved.
Caucuses begin at 7:00 PM. Arrive no later than 6:45 PM to allow time for check-in.
I want to go to my caucus - What do I have to do? 1. Know your precinct: You can use the Secretary of State lookup tool to find out: www.sos.state.co.us/Voter/voterHome.do
(This tool will give the full, statewide 10-digit number for your precinct. The last 3 digits of the number are the "short" versionof your precinct number within your specific county). 2. Look up the caucus location for your precinct:
www.coloradodems.org/caucuslocations Or www.ColoGOP.org
3. Arrive at your caucus location just before 7pm on Tuesday, Feb. 5. ________________________________________ Business Recruitment Packet to be Developed
The Grand County Board of Commissioners has graciously awarded the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce a grant that will fund the development of a comprehensive business recruitment packet. It is our goal to develop a tool that can be used to recruit businesses to Grand County. Hopefully the packet will include substantiave demographic data, business license information and a guide to help new businesses grow.
We are looking for a few experienced members to help us build the packet. Please contact Catherine Ross at 726-4221 ext. 201 if you would like to help with this project.
Thank you to the Commissioners for their assistance! ___________________________________________

National Forest Closures Due to Safety
Starting January 28, the St. Louis Creek Road on the Sulphur Ranger District will be closed weekdays due to logging directly adjacent to the road. The Creekside Trail and the Flume Trail in the Fraser Experimental Forest are also closed due to safety concerns from logging activity.
In addition, the Sulphur Ranger District has two new closures starting January 30 - the Chainsaw Trail and the western end of the Leland Creek Road. These routes will also be closed to ensure public safety while logging operations are occurring.
Leland Creek Road and Chainsaw Trail, along with Flume and Creekside Trails, are expected to remain closed seven days a week for the remainder of the winter. The St. Louis Creek Road is expected to remain closed weekdays until February 8 and will be impassable due to equipment and logs. The two trails will be closed throughout the winter. These closed areas are marked with signs and either flagging or fencing.
The public should be aware of a number of safety concerns in these areas. Visitors need to stay at least 100 yards away from any logging equipment and also need to be aware of hazards in areas already logged. These hazards include stumps, limbs, and downed logs that are not all marked and could be covered by snow.
There are still many trails and areas open to the public on the Sulphur Ranger District. To find out more about where to recreate, please contact visitor information at 970.887.4100.
For the latest information on beetle kill logging activities, please check our website at www.fs.fed.us/r2/arnf/conditions/srdbarkbeetle/index.shtml. Here you will find maps of the projects and the latest on closures. ___________________________________
